The Chaotic World of Youth Sports — Vol 35

iSport360_ChaoticWorldYouthSportsAs a dad and coach, I know how complicated youth sports can be at times.  So I’d like to share some helpful articles that shed light on the challenges we face… and some humorous ones that might even give us an opportunity to laugh at ourselves.  Thanks for reading and please use these buttons to share this newsletter with your social networks.

We Made it to the Cover of TIME Magazine TIME_Magazine_YouthSports

Over the last year, our community of sports parents has surpassed 40,000 subscribers because youth sports has become an unruly beast. It’s the $15B elephant in the room that has taken over our finances, our schedules, our dinner conversation and affected relationships with our kids, their coaches and other sports parents. While iSport360 has raised many of these issues in our newsletter and brought you education, tools and humor to help cope, we now have the attention of the world as TIME Magazine made YOUTH SPORTS its cover story this week. ESPN’s Philadelphia affiliate 610am just launched a new show called SPORTS VENTING RADIO where Frustrated Phil and The Woz let other frustrated fans “VENT” about their pro sports teams.  I was thrilled when they invited me to join their show last week so they could “VENT” about youth sports and some of the things they have witnessed at the ball fields… because after all i’ll put the passion, emotion and energy of a youth sports parent up against even the most die hard pro sports fan any day.

Click here to listen to our audio segment and learn what has changed in youth sports in the last 25 years—with suggestions for better sports parenting and laughs about the craziest things that we have experienced at the ball fields.

Can You Help This Young Soccer Player?

Last year an old friend launched a campaign to require youth soccer goalies to wear mouth guards.  While I immediately offered my support, what she didn’t share until recently was the life-changing injury her son suffered while playing goalie last year. I am attaching the link to her son’s story and the GoFundMe page that is helping pay the astronomical medical bills. Read the full story here.
