Summer is here, and that means longer days, warmer weather, and endless opportunities to get outside playing sports in the summer! Whether you’re gearing up for summer leagues, hitting the courts with friends, or trying a new sport for the first time, the key to an amazing summer sports experience isn’t just about winning—it’s about having fun while staying safe and healthy.
Playing Sports in the Summer
The summer heat can be intense, but that doesn’t mean you have to stay indoors. The secret is timing and preparation. Schedule your games and practices during the cooler parts of the day—early morning or evening sessions can make all the difference. Not only will you feel more energetic, but you’ll also avoid the scorching midday sun.
When you do play during hotter times, take frequent water breaks. Your body is working overtime to keep you cool, so give it the fuel it needs. Sports drinks can help too, especially during longer activities, but water should always be your go-to choice.
